Seoul Hosts World IT Show 2024: A Showcase of AI Innovations

The Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea has kickstarted the World IT Show 2024, the country’s largest ICT exhibition. The theme “Innovating Everyday Life with AI” featured several companies and organizations, spanning a vast 7,000 Pyeong exhibition area.

The World IT Show 2024 commenced in Seoul, showcasing technologies from both local and global companies. With a focus on “Innovation in everyday life, created by artificial intelligence (AI),” the event drew participation from 446 companies and institutions across 10 countries, as announced by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

Samsung and LG took center stage at the Seoul COEX convention and exhibition center with their latest advancements in AI technology. Samsung unveiled its ‘Galaxy AI’ platform, offering visitors the chance to experience AI features on its newest Galaxy S24 smartphone series, including real-time translation. The company also introduced its electronic wallet service, Samsung Wallet, and displayed AI-powered home appliance products.

At the World IT Show 2024, Samsung’s booth catered to the preferences of younger demographics by offering quick fashion and plant search functions simplified note-taking and translation, and seamless connectivity through the ‘Galaxy SmartTag2’.

The showcase also highlighted new Bespoke appliances integrated with AI technology, drawing attention to their innovative features.

On the other hand, LG emphasized its ‘Empathy Intelligence’ concept, highlighting its on-device AI that excels in fine-tuning various electronics in a user-friendly manner. Both companies attracted attention with interactive demonstrations and immersive experiences, setting the tone for the innovative AI technologies showcased at the World IT Show 2024.

The company focused on artificial intelligence to prioritize understanding and considering the customer’s perspective. Among the standout displays was LG’s Alpha car concept, which adjusted its interior ambiance based on the passenger’s mood and transformed into different settings for dining, movie watching, or gaming.

LG’s presentation also included demonstrations of its latest AI processor, Alpha 11, powering devices like organic light-emitting diode TVs and showcasing capabilities such as image creation and musical composition.

The company additionally showcased its lifestyle-centric products, such as the All-in-one washer-dryer and the Tower washer-dryer, along with energy-efficient solutions like the ‘LG PuriCare Objet Collection 360˚ Air Purifier’.

The Korean tech giant introduced subscription services offering hassle-free home management, and outdoor enthusiasts explored customized living spaces and portable entertainment technology.

LG highlighted its core AI technologies in its exhibition hall, showcasing advancements in AI chipsets, OLED TVs, washing machines and dryers.

Meanwhile, SK Telecom presented new business-related technologies, including the AI assistant A-dot and Telco LLM, while KT unveiled its AI Inside Platform, which offers chatbot services based on LLM and AI Creator image generation technology.

The World IT Show 2024 showed South Korea’s leading role in the global IT industry, particularly in AI innovations. As AI technology becomes more integrated into daily life, events like these serve to highlight its growth globally.
