NCSoft‘s Yoon Songyee, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), participated in the ‘The New Global Sport Conference (NGSC)’ in Saudi Arabia.
The NGSC, organized by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Sports and the Saudi Esports Federation, took place in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on October 23 (local time). Saudi Arabia announced that it will host the Esports World Cup in Riyadh starting from the summer of 2024.
There, Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, and Yasir Othman Al-Rumayyan, the Governor of the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), attended the conference. Yoon Songyee, as CSO, participated as a panelist, invited by the Saudi Arabian government.
During the second keynote session, whose the theme was ‘New Pathways to Grow the Global Gaming Audience,’ Yoon Songyee, discussed the continued growth of the global gaming market with Jean-Michel Detoc, CMO (Chief Mobile Officer) of Ubisoft, Toshimoto Mitomo, CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) of Sony, Shuji Utsumi, COO (Chief Operating Officer) of Sega, and Michael Worosz, CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) of Take-Two Interactive.
Yoon emphasized, “The success of games is determined by how active the user community is. A wide range of content that satisfies both casual and hardcore users should be the foundation, requiring much consideration from the game planning stage for the entire community to be activated.”
Furthermore, she stated, “The AI used in game development is not something new, but a refinement of the technologies we have been using since the past. By utilizing generative AI from the game planning stage, developers can increase creativity and productivity and streamline the overall development process,” underscoring the importance of AI technology for the continuous growth and innovative future of the gaming industry.
Yoon Songyee is set to attend the 7th Future Investment Initiative (FII) forum in Riyadh from October 24 to 26, where she will discuss the impact of generative AI, VR, and other new technologies on the entertainment industry landscape, as well as the growth strategies of global businesses encompassing cultural diversity with global leaders.
