The South Korean electronics giant Samsung launched ‘Freestyle’, the lightest portable beam projector, on Tuesday. Freestyle will apparently allow consumers to have entertainment on the go as the new product is designed for travelers and campers. With this, the company plans to offer an enhanced screen experience while overcoming the physical limitations of TVs through the new projector.
The Freestyle is a handy projector model that does not weigh more than 830 grams, says the company. The tiny bean projector has a minimal design, a great option for campers and travelers.
While talking to the media, Samsung officials stated, “The Freestyle can rotate freely in 180 degrees and support screen size up to 100 inches. In addition, it can project a screen anywhere from the wall, ceiling to floor.” Officials further spoke of the use case of the beam projector. “Plug it into a socket; it can be utilized as a mood light. Also, it can be charged via a USB charger or a power bank,” they added.
The projector can further display 1080 images from 30-100 inches while it can be synced with Galaxy smartphones and the SmartThings app. Since it is made for Samsung users who like to get entertainment on the go, the Freestyle has a feature that can often play content without Wi-Fi. In addition, the projector is compatible with USB-C PD battery packs.
Although the company has not officially commented on its launch in Korea, it has scheduled the launch for the global market. Presently, Samsung has announced that the pre-orders will start in the U.S. from Jan4. The price of the new Freestyle beam projector is expected to be around $899 in the U.S. Samsung is yet to officially announce its price for the market worldwide.
The officials have also unveiled other projector features including the built-in speakers that release sound 360 degrees. However, the primary attraction of the projector has been the supporting streaming platforms. The new Freestyle beam projector has included Netflix and Disney+ in the system. The product lets you mirror or cast through Android and iOS mobile devices.
Simon Sung, Executive Vice President and Head of the Sales & Marketing Team of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, had an interview with the media where he gave insights into the new product line. “The Freestyle is a one-of-a-kind projector geared towards ultimate versatility and flexibility to meet the consumers’ changing lifestyles,” he stated.
