GS Caltex would exhibit its drone delivery service and next-generation gas station at the Consumer Electronics Show 2021 next week. The global tech expo event would feature GS Caltex for the first time.

This year’s CES 2021event would kick off on Monday and push through completely online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. GS Caltex would offer videos introducing its new technology and models for future businesses.

The company submitted three videos introducing drone delivery services, a future gas station, and the utilization of gas stations as a logistics base. GS Caltex produced the videos with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and the Ministry of Science and ICT.

The first video includes two drone delivery tests by GS Caltex conducted together with the Ministry of Trade. The drones take off from the GS Caltex Musucheon gas station and deliver goods to other places.

The second video shows a drone bringing food and drinks from a gas station in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, and delivers to an elementary school located on a remote island. The gas stations serve as a logistics base for the drones.

The company intends to improve and enable its drones to deliver to outlying areas, including remote islands. Korea’s archipelago makes drone delivery service a favorable industry.

Energy Plus Hub

GS would present its last video with a future gas station model based on a new facility opened in Seocho-gu last November. The Energy Plus Hub, launched in November, functions simultaneously as a hydrogen and electric vehicle charging station. It also features a car-sharing and micro-mobility platform and serves as a logistics base for drone taxis.

The company aims to connect and create networks with global companies for partnerships through online meetings. GS Caltex would carry on working with the Ministry of Trade and Yeosu and Jeju’s local governments on future projects.

A GS Caltex official stated that the videos submitted to CES 2021 highlight its vision and the future of gas stations. The company strives to discover diverse business opportunities aside from the future gas station business.
