The European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK) hosted a three-day charity race event in partnership with Renault Samsung Motors (RSM). For the contest, ECCK member companies’ volunteers would drive Renault Samsung’s Twizy electric cars from Seoul to Busan.

The ECCK created the fundraising race event to encourage donations and assistance for the less fortunate who experience difficulties during the Covid-19 pandemic. The race started on November 4 in Seoul, passing through Daejon and Daegu cities, and ends on November 6 at Busan. A total of five volunteer racers from member companies joined the event and used the Twizy vehicles like race cars.

Supporting the Community

Renault Samsung intends to contribute the Twizy cars to social welfare organizations to support their social welfare activities amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ECCK hosted the opening ceremony last Wednesday at the Seoul Dragon City in Yongshan. Dominique Signora, Renault Samsung Motors CEO, represented the company at the ceremony together with Dirk Lukat, ECCK’s Chairperson. The Ambassadors of France and the European Union, Phillipe Lefort and Maria Castillo Fernandez, also attended the ceremony.

Chairperson Dirk Lukat stated that ECCK organized the event to assist their partners undergoing difficulties amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

CEO Signora also said that Renault Samsung plays a vital role in mobility in Korea and the rest of the world. The company feels proud to contribute to the ECCK society through its made-in-Korea vehicles.

Renault Samsung produced the Twizy electric car at a Renault factory located in Valladolid, Spain. The company also imported the two-seater quadricycle to Korea. Dongshin Motech, a local automotive body parts manufacturer and parts supplier of Renault Samsung, currently manufactures the vehicle.

Renault Samsung Motors attracts many drivers with its SUVs like the QM6 and the XM3, and the SM6 sedan. The company also actively participates in donation drives in South Korea to support local communities.

The company recently donated vehicles, including the Twizy EVs and the Master Bus in Korea, last October to the Busan Community Chest of Korea.
