Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Wednesday that it would unveil the next in the lineup of its Galaxy Note 20 series in August through a live-streaming online event Galaxy Unpacked. The decision came in response to the constraints brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Galaxy Unpacked 2020 would happen on August 5 at 10 a.m. (Eastern Time) with an international live-streaming.

The unveiling event would showcase new mobile devices, including its flagship Galaxy Note 20 series. Usually, Samsung holds the event in New York yearly; however, the company decided to stage the event virtually this year due to the pandemic.

The standard Galaxy Note 20 displays a 6.4-inch screen while the high-end Note 20 Ultra includes a 6.9-inch panel.

Samsung would also present its 5th generation (5G) Galaxy Z Flip, which displays a clamshell-type device and a folding screen and the new Galaxy Fold 2 during the event along with Note 20.

Foreign tech analysts anticipated that the Galaxy Fold 2 would contain a 6.23-inch display cover and a 7.7-inch screen when unfolded. These features surpass its precursor’s 4.6-inch and 7.3-inch displays, respectively.

The 5G version of the Galaxy Z Flip does not have significant modifications compared to its original LTE model launched last February.

Samsung would also unveil the Galaxy Buds Live wireless earbuds and the Galaxy Watch 3 wearable.

According to industry sources, Samsung’s new phones can become commercially available on August 21 to boost the company’s sales volume. The company’s sales estimate reached a maximum of 54 million units sold during the first quarter despite the adverse business effects of the pandemic. Samsung still maintained its sales momentum during the second quarter of this year.

Lee Seung-woo of Eugene Securities stated that Samsung’s mobile department produced a profit of 1.8 trillion won ($1.5 billion) from operations in the second quarter.
