Samsung Electronics announced on Thursday that it had been selected as Canadian telecommunications service provider TELUS Corp.’s 5G network infrastructure supplier.

In seven months, Samsung has been rapidly expanding its customer base, signing four new 5G supply contracts with operators in the New Zealand, U.S., and Canada.

“We are excited to have earned TELUS’ trust to roll out next-generation 5G services together.”

– Paul Kyungwhoon Cheun, Samsung Electronics’ President and Head of Networks Business

Paul expressed their excitement in earning TELUS’ trust in providing next-generation 5G-based services and technologies. He added that Samsung would fully support TELUS through its successful experiences in commercializing 5G across multiple leading markets.

Samsung would play a key role in establishing and expanding new 5G services in Canada with its unparalleled 5G network solutions. The agreement displays Samsung’s strong commitment to enhancing the emerging era of 5G.

The 5G supply deal is Samsung’s second contract in Canada following its agreement with Canadian telecommunications company Videotron Ltd. Last December.

“This development in our 5G ecosystem is a testament to our team’s innovation, skill, and grit in building a world-leading 5G experience for Canadians from coast to coast, and from urban to rural.”

-Darren Entwistle, TELUS President and CEO

Darren also expressed the company’s pleasure of working with Samsung, as the deal would significantly enhance their network capability with the South Korean company’s exceptional connectivity and state-of-the-art technology in 5G solutions.

TELUS is a world-leading IT and communications company with a wide range of customer connections such as television, security, IP voice. The company has injected almost 242 trillion won ($200 billion) into fiber optic and wireless network infrastructure.

Internet performance watchers such as Open Signal, Ookla, Tutela, and PCMag have recognized the Canadian company’s 4G LTE network for its high network speeds, low latency, and resiliency.
