Samsung’s ‘HDR10+’ Balloons with Global Video Content Provider Partnerships

Samsung Electronics is planning to strengthen cooperation with major global contents companies such as Amazon and Warner Brothers and expand ecosystem of its own video standard ‘HDR10+’. HDR10+ is a next-generation image standard technology developed by Samsung Electronics that optimizes brightness and contrast for each scene, making bright spots brighter and darker parts more dark, increasing the sense of 3D image.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 23rd that it increased its HDR10+ premium video streaming content with Amazon from about 100 videos to around 1,000. Amazon also introduced HDR10+ function to its streaming receiver Fire Stick 4K that was released in October. Major European streaming service providers are also participating. Lakuten, Europe’s largest content business, and Miko High School, which has large influence in Eastern Europe, are planning to start HDR10+ service in the first half of next year. ivi, Russia’s largest content provider, has launched Russia’s first HDR10+ movie service this month.

“With HDR becoming an essential element in ultra-high-definition video recently, Samsung’s HDR10+ technology is receiving much attention.”

Vice-President Lee Hyo-geon of Samsung Electronics’ Video Display Business Department.
