LG Electronics has officially begun the global rollout of its updated portable display, the StanbyME 2, designed to offer greater flexibility and mobility for modern lifestyles. Building on the success of the original StanbyME, the new model features a detachable screen and an upgraded display resolution, allowing users to enjoy an immersive viewing experience both at home and on the go.

The global release of the LG StanbyME 2 begins this week in Turkey and Hong Kong, with further launches scheduled throughout July in Singapore, Vietnam, Canada, and the United States. In August, the rollout will extend to key European markets, including France, Spain, Germany, and the UK, as part of LG’s broader effort to grow its lifestyle-oriented product range worldwide.

First revealed at CES 2025, the LG StanbyME 2 has captured widespread attention for its upgraded design and standout capabilities. The latest model features a detachable body, built-in battery, and a 27-inch QHD touchscreen, enhancing portability and offering a more versatile viewing experience. Following its launch in South Korea this February, the device quickly became a hit, with early units selling out in less than an hour and overall sales reaching nearly four times those of its earlier version released four years ago.

A key highlight of the StanbyME 2 is its easily removable screen, which detaches from the stand with a single click. Users can place it on a tabletop, mount it on a wall, or even hang it like a picture frame using the included strap accessory, offering greater flexibility in how and where the screen is used. Supporting both portrait and landscape modes, the display adapts well to different environments, whether it’s an outdoor patio, a kitchen counter, or a bedroom.

To improve usability on the go, the StanbyME 2 is equipped with a high-capacity battery that allows up to four hours of continuous video playback without needing to be plugged in. Charging is convenient through either the docking stand or a USB-C cable connected to an external charger or power bank. This added flexibility makes the device suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments, whether used for streaming shows or displaying digital art.

LG has also upgraded the user interface by adding voice recognition for hands-free control. The device runs on LG’s webOS platform, giving users access to a broad range of streaming services, including LG Channels. It also supports Apple AirPlay and Google Cast for wireless content sharing, while integrating with LG ThinQ and Google Home for seamless smart home compatibility.

The StanbyME 2 offers a well-rounded audio-visual experience with its QHD (2,560 x 1,440) resolution and stereo speakers. The speakers are optimized to adjust based on screen position—whether in portrait, landscape, or tablet mode—ensuring balanced sound quality. The display’s picture settings also adapt to ambient lighting, made possible by LG’s α8 AI Processor. This chip enhances the overall experience by enabling Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, bringing more immersive and cinematic visuals and sound to a portable form factor.
