The human safety solution company, Safeware(CEO: Shin Hwan-cheol) has become a provider of its wearable smart anti-falling airbag C3 to the Hyundai E&C (Director: Yoon Yung-jun).

This deal is part of Hyundai E&C‘s preventive measures to reduce falling accidents, which are the leading cause of serious injuries at construction sites, among other industrial accidents. In an effort to protect employees working at heights, C3s, Safeware’s smart anti-falling airbag, will be installed throughout the site. The C3s will be placed at every construction site of the company, enabling workers operating at heights to prepare for unexpected falls.

The C3s used at Hyundai construction sites are safety vests designed to prevent workers from sustaining serious injuries due to falls. These vests have also been provided to 660 public and private corporations, including KORAIL, the Korea Highway Corporation, Korea Electric Power, Samsung, LG, and POSCO E&C.

The sensor inside the C3 airbag can detect a worker’s fall, triggering the electric inflator to inflate the airbag within 0.2 seconds. This mechanism protects the user’s body, especially vulnerable areas prone to serious injuries.

Not only does the sensor detect falls, but it can also contact designated emergency contacts with information about the accident’s location and details of the situation, ensuring that the victim receives prompt assistance during the golden hour.

Once fully charged, the built-in sensor can operate for over 100 hours, and the airbag is reusable by replacing its cartridge module. Furthermore, the airbag does not interfere with the safety hat and is highly compatible. For instance, workers at heights can wear the airbags and the necessary safety belts.

The CEO Shin Hwan-cheol of Safeware said in his interview, β€œOur company’s technology is to be used at the construction sites of Hyundai, an industry leader, and this brings joy to me.”
He also added, β€œ This smart anti-falling airbag can be applied in various fields such as industrial sites and building management, or it can be used for personal purposes. So, I will do my best to make sure our product can be developed further and be utilized in more various fields, preventing any accidents.”

Meanwhile, Safeware, a company based in the Pangyo Techno Valley startup support hub, has gained international recognition for its technological prowess and innovation, such as participating in the German IFA 2023 Technology Innovation Companies, winning the CES Innovation Award, and receiving the gold medal in the Personal Technology category at the world’s largest invention competition, the Edison Awards. On October 23, it was selected as a ‘2023 Promising Small and Medium-sized Enterprise in Gyeonggi-do’ by the GBSA, acknowledging its growth potential.
