LG Innotek Joins Global Leaders with EV Charging Patents

LG Innotek, a South Korean electronics components manufacturer, has gained global acclaim for its electric vehicle (EV) charging technology patents. Via LA has recognized the company, an American entity that licenses patents.

LG Innotek’s recent accomplishment includes securing three critical electric vehicle charging components patents. These patents are expected to support LG Group’s vision for the electric vehicle industry.

“To advance as a top global company, it’s crucial to methodically oversee and safeguard international patents and intellectual property rights related to our core technologies,” stressed Kim Jin-hyun, head of the company’s intellectual property division.

LG Innotek announced its acquisition of three global patents related to electric vehicle (EV) charging standards. These patents encompass two breakthroughs in EV charging control technologies, relying on battery status information and the other one centered on the programming of charging schedules.

The attained patents allow LG Innotek to generate royalties by offering other companies the right to employ its licensed technology.

Via LA, headquartered in San Francisco, specializes in licensing standard patents for EV charging and is a globally acknowledged authority in this domain. Via LA extends this level of recognition to fewer than ten companies involved in the EV charging sector. This distinction elevates LG Innotek to the ranks of industry leaders such as Bosch and Siemens.

Beyond its wired EV charging technology achievements, LG Innotek has extended its research and development efforts to encompass wireless charging, power conversion technology, and the production of external chargers tailored for electric vehicles.

In the previous year, LG Innotek acquired a portfolio of more than 180 patents from the American autonomous driving startup Argo AI, including crucial Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology.

LG Innotek’s pursuit of patents extends beyond electric vehicle (EV) technology to encompass self-driving capabilities.

This AI-driven system enhances efficiency, processing patents at a speed that surpasses human capabilities by 900 times. By doing so, LG Innotek aims to manage and secure a robust intellectual property portfolio systematically.
