LG enters the gaming laptop market with its first-ever UltraGear gaming laptop

LG, the South Korean tech giant, has announced its first gaming laptop, ‘UltraGear 17G90Q.’ The much-talked gaming laptop has a big 17.3-inch display that comes with an 11th Gen Intel CPU and 1920×1080 IPS panel. In addition, the company has claimed the response time to be 1 millisecond while the refresh rate is at 300Hz.

Although LG is not known to be a major laptop producer, the company’s laptop production has been given primary importance to office productivity. However, the newly launched laptop has changed the focus to the gaming experience.

The features of the laptop include dual-channel DDR4 RAM with two options of 32 and 16 GB. It supports additional storage up to 1 TB having M.2 Dual SSD slots.

Another feature that the company has highlighted is a vapor chamber to ensure that the laptop remains cool when run for a longer duration. Unlike other LG laptops, which are known for being ultralight, the new gaming laptop is neither heavy nor ultralight. The laptop weighs 2.64 kg, has 21.4mm thickness, and is suitable for gamers.

It is bundled with an RGB backlit keyboard for a premium gaming experience and an FHD webcam having a dual mic. Also, it has 4Gen 3A-2 Type-C and other important USB ports, Wi-Fi 6E, and Intel Killer Wireless.

Reportedly, the laptop can run for a longer duration as it comes with a 93Wh battery.

The company has not yet given the complete details of the product, which it plans to unveil at the upcoming CES 2022. The Korean tech giant will commercially launch the new LG Ultra Gear gaming laptop in the coming weeks. It is expected to come out in the international market in Jan’22. South Korea and the U.S. will be the first two countries to experience the laptop.

LG has not yet commented on the pricing of the laptop. However, according to industry experts, the price is likely to have an expensive range compared to other laptops.  It is indeed a big punch in the laptop market, but it will be interesting to see how it competes with other already-established gaming laptops.
