Samsung Electronics shared that its newly developed SmartThings Find network continues to grow significantly, registering over 70 million helper devices. In 2020, Samsung launched the SmartThings Find service to the SmartThings app, which helps users find misplaced Galaxy devices, providing integrated directions and maps. Samsung also introduced new SmartThings Find features for improved safety and convenience, giving users more control over their registered devices.

SmartThing’s Continuous Growth

SmartThings Find primarily enables users to locate connected Galaxy devices such as earbuds, smartphones, smartwatches, and tablets easily and quickly. In addition to locating Galaxy products, the network also pinpoints various everyday items, including bags, bicycles, and even pets’ locations. Moreover, the Bluetooth-powered SmartThings Find performs these functions using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technologies.

“Samsung is proud that SmartThings has become an industry-leading ecosystem,” said Jung Jae-Yeon, VP of Samsung Electronics’ SmartThings Team. “We are just beginning to scratch the surface of its potential and cannot wait to unveil more in the near future.” Since SmartThings Find’s launch, users have registered more than 70 million devices to the service. After accomplishing a quick confirmation process, 700 million more Galaxy product users could connect their devices to one of the world’s rapidly increasing location services.

New Features For Added Safety and Convenience

Users are also increasingly employing the easy-to-use SmartThings Find service to keep track of their essential belongings. Recently, Samsung introduced the Galaxy SmartTag+ following the release of its predecessor, the Galaxy SmartTag. The Galaxy SmartTag+ is a gadget that also helps users locate missing items using BLE, UWB, and augmented reality technologies. Furthermore, more than half of Galaxy SmartTag owners link the device to car keys, wallets, bags, and other essential belongings.

Galaxy users can access two new SmartThings Find functions that deliver enhanced item-finding operations and better safety starting this month. First, Samsung optimized Bixby, an intelligent digital assistant, to provide Galaxy SmartTag searches using voice activation. For instance, if a user asks Bixby the location of a registered item, Bixby promptly gives the exact location.

Second, Samsung installed the Unknown Tag Search function, which scans for unknown Galaxy SmartTags. Using this new feature, users can make sure that unauthorized devices don’t covertly track their location. SmartThings Find also encrypts data and offers randomized private IDs that renew every fifteen minutes. With this technology, the service secures that only the owners know their device’s location.
