LG Electronics announced it would launch a joint venture for enhancing digital and consumer-grade automotive experiences in partnership with Luxoft. Named Alluto, the joint venture will help advance the companies’ shared vision and strengthen their standing in automotive solutions development. LG Electronics and Luxoft will hold the official Alluto launch virtually on March 15, 8:00 AM PDT, at Alluto’s website.

Headquartered in Switzerland, Luxoft is a software engineering company and a DXC Technology subsidiary, which helped LG Electronics develop Alluto. During CES 2020, the two companies signed an agreement to advance LG’s webOS Auto platform using Luxoft’s engineering capabilities.

LG’s webOS Auto Platform

As LG stated, its new webOS Auto 2.0 incorporates essential car services and content to deliver seamless and consistent operations. The webOS Auto 2.0 enables vehicle equipment manufacturers to customize features, allowing better support for vehicle needs and designs. In addition to providing solutions for automakers, operators, and mobility providers, the platform offers in-vehicle security, connectivity, and multimedia controls.

Moreover, Luxoft’s CEO and DXC Technology’s Executive VP stated that LG Electronics’ webOS Auto offers an extensive digital vehicle blueprint. Luxoft also announced that it would head webOS Auto’s implementation in automotive systems using its worldwide distribution and engineering networks.

Alluto and The Future Digital Mobility

Using LG Electronics’ webOS Auto platform, Alluto provides comprehensive automotive solutions for commercializing and advancing technologies on in-vehicle infotainment, passenger entertainment, digital car cockpit, and ride-hailing systems.

“With Alluto, carmakers can now tap into the vibrant webOS ecosystem from the edge to cloud and have a new, powerful alternative to innovate and differentiate future mobility experiences,” said Dr. Park Il-Pyung, LG Electronics’ President and Chief Technology Officer. According to Alluto’s CEO Adam Woolway, the combination of LG’s webOS Auto and Luxoft’s capabilities creates innovative automotive market opportunities. Woolway also added that Alluto brings in new, living room-like in-vehicle experiences through LG’s webOS Auto 2.0 services.

“LG will continue to strengthen the webOS Auto ecosystem through strategic cooperation with diverse global technology companies,” continued Dr. Park. In December 2020, LG Electronics formed a partnership with the automotive mobility tech firm Magna International to produce electric vehicle components. Additionally, the South Korean electronics company will continue forging collaborations to promote the digitalization trend and learn from fellow competitors.
