LG Electronics announced on Tuesday that it received its third Best Innovation Award for its Center Information Display (CID) during Renault’s first-ever virtual 2020 Supplier Awards, which took place on November 5.
Renault recognized 15 companies from seven countries that contributed to the French automaker’s success in five categories. It gave awards for Design, Quality & Customer Satisfaction, Sustainable Purchasing, Best Innovation, and Best Service to Manufacturing during this year’s event.
Renault commended LG’s center information display (CID), which provides in-vehicle infotainment systems for Renault’s vehicles, such as Clio and Captur. The 9.3-inch gapless curved CID controls the vehicle’s audio, video, and navigation systems.

According to LG, the center information display or CID provides information and settings for the vehicle’s audio, video, and navigation systems. Users could control the vehicle’s functions and features using CID’s touchscreen display and create a connected car experience.
LG Electronics won its first and second innovation award from Renault in 2014 and 2017, respectively. The South Korean company’s Vehicle Component Solutions division also received similar accolades from global carmakers in the past months.
In January, LG received audio, visual and navigation (AVN) system solutions received an honorific during Hyundai’s Partnership Day. The next month, the company’s advanced in-vehicle touchscreen display technology won Daimler’s 2020 Supplier Award.
LG also received General Motors’ sought-after GM Innovation Award during the carmaker’s 29th Annual Supplier of the Year Awards. General Motors recognized LG Electronics’ innovative P-OLED cockpit technology, which appeared in the 2021 Cadillac Escalade.
LG Electronics’ vision of creating new standards for vehicles has pushed the company to develop more innovative technology to transform cars into a second home on wheels.
