SK Telecom (SKT) announced on Tuesday that it would launch its new flagship store in the Hongik University neighborhood in partnership with Microsoft Corp. and Apple Inc. The new facility, named T Factory, would open on October 31 in western Seoul, Korea. The T Factory would introduce the company’s latest achievements in technologies and services and impart SKT’s future ICT vision.

The T Factory would also become a place where customers could freely experience the services offered by SKT. The store would continuously develop and advance to reflect and address customer preferences and new market trends. SKT would push for enhancements based on the customers’ feedbacks and experiences in the T Factory.

Additionally, visitors going to the T Factory would experience SKT’s essential services and its ICT affiliate companies. Customers would also come into contact with customer representatives and other products in partnership with other companies.

Flagship Experience and Retail Store

The flagship store would feature an unmanned store wherein users can purchase or sell phones through digital kiosks. Customers of the T-Factory 24 could check-in themselves through facial recognition and avail the 24-hour store’s services.

SKT also installed a uniquely designed gate kiosk with thermal scanners and door sensors to protect customers against the COVID-19 pandemic.

A cultural space inside the T Factory would provide virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) content services for younger generations.

The T Factory would showcase SKT’s collaboration with Samsung Electronics, Microsoft, and Apple through their respective products. Visitors could also experience SKT’s 5GX Cloud Game recently launched with Microsoft.

Visitors could choose any content media service offered by the T-Factory, including Wavve, Btv, Coloring, and Flo.

They could also discover the latest security services such as blockchain-based mobile e-certification service and quantum cryptography. The T Factory also enables a customer to experience AI-based products and services like NUGU, iPhone XNUGU, MeetUs, and TMap.

Smart shopping through 11st Street and esports team T1 goods would be made available in the T Factory store.

Park Jung-ho, SK Telecom CEO, stated that T Factory accommodates a creativity and innovation venue where people with diverse backgrounds and expertise unite and share ideas. The company hopes to encourage and motivate ICT companies to experiment with new ventures, thereby energizing Korea’s ICT industry.
