LG Electronics (LG) announced that it would extend its free content streaming service, LG Channels, to LG smart TV owners with even more premium entertainment to enjoy at home. The expanded service would provide a fantastic selection of different programs, including free content covering all things Korean (“K-content”). LG’s collaboration with NEW ID, a subsidiary of NEXT ENTERTAINMENT WORLD (NEW), and a digital content and platform distribution company in South Korea would ensure incredible content line-ups.

Smart TV owners from Europe would enjoy free channels first starting this month. YG TV featuring exclusive contents from YG Entertainment would showcase big names in the music industry, such as Blackpink, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Winner. Food enthusiasts could watch videos on muKbang TV while music lovers could watch music videos and karaoke on Mubeat.

Sports fans of billiards could also enjoy watching the sport on Billiards TV. The expanded offerings from LG Channels would extend to more places, and Smart TV owners in the future.

Multi-Broadcast Channels with Premium Digital Content

Kim Woo-taek, CEO of NEW, stated that the company would create the highest quality Korean content for Europe through LG Smart TV. NEW ID plans to expand its digital channels and services to more regions.

LG 2019 TVs with webOS 4.5 would begin to receive Korean content starting this November. Smart TVs running webOS versions 3.0 through 4.0 would experience the service before the year ends. Meanwhile, webOS 5.0 TV owners in more countries would receive the service by 2021.

Lee Sang-woo, LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company’s Senior VP of content service business, stated that LG Channels provide multi-broadcast channels with premium digital content. The channels would come with free diverse content choices on Smart TVs in Canada, Europe, Latin America, and the US. Viewers could also access the expanded content that matches LG’s goal to broaden the scope based on evolving trends.

LG actively develops its premium content service to respond to the increasing TV viewership and LG Channels’ international audience. The streaming service initially started in Korea, the US, and Canada and eventually extended to European and South American countries.
