Samsung Galaxy to Support Three Generations of Android OS Upgrades

Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that it would support up to three generations of Android operating system (OS) upgrades on its Galaxy devices as a campaign to improve sales. The company also promised to enhance its after-sales support to assist users with Galaxy devices further.

Yoon Jang-hyun, head of Software Platform Team and senior vice president for Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics, stated that Samsung commits a fully upgraded service to Samsung Galaxy customers. Users would experience the latest mobile trends and enjoy secure protection while using Galaxy devices.

The company would enable an extended lifespan for its devices by supporting the Android OS upgrades. Samsung would offer a more straightforward and safe mobile experience that provides the latest innovations as soon as possible.

Samsung would continue to work with partners worldwide to allow more up-to-date mobile features in many Galaxy devices.

The company intends to convert a variety of its mobile subscriptions, from Galaxy S, Note, Z, A to the Tab series, for the Android upgrades.

The Galaxy S20 lineup, launched in February and powered by Android 10, would receive three OS upgrades starting with Android 11 this year. The company also said that the Android 11 upgrade would make S20 the first Galaxy device to obtain the upgrade later this year. The upgrading of other devices would follow afterward.

Eligible Galaxy Devices

Galaxy devices covered by the upgrade consist of the Galaxy S series, which includes Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, S20 Ultra, S20+ 5G, S20+, S20 5G, S20 in addition to S10 5G, S10+, S10, S10e, S10 Lite.

The Galaxy note series, which include the Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G, Note20 Ultra, Note20 5G, Note20, Note10+ 5G, Note10+, Note10 5G, Note10, Note10 Lite, would also get an upgrade.

Meanwhile, Galaxy Foldable devices include Galaxy Z Fold2 5G, Z Fold2, Z Flip 5G, Z Flip, Fold 5G, Fold.

The Galaxy A series and Tablets, which include the Galaxy A71 5G, A71, A51 5G, A51, A90 5G, and Galaxy Tab S7+ 5G, Tab S7+, Tab S7 5G, Tab S7, Tab S6 5G, Tab S6, Tab S6 Lite, would also enjoy support for three OS upgrades.

All other upcoming device series would instantly receive upgrades to Android 11 in the future.
