Samsung Electronics Co. announced on Wednesday that it signed an agreement with a global esports organization T1 Entertainment & Sports (T1), as it aims to boost its sales of gaming monitors.

Under the partnership, Samsung would sponsor all teams and players under T1 by providing them the Odyssey G9 and G7, its latest curved gaming monitors.

T1 is a joint venture between U.S.-based entertainment company Comcast Spectacor LLC and South Korea’s leading mobile carrier SK Telecom. Founded in 2019, the organization facilitates ten teams in the competitive online gaming sector.

Samsung’s visual display business senior vice president, Ha Hye-sung, said that the Odyssey monitor lineup provides the most immersive gaming experience with its QLED picture quality, high-performance 1000R curvature, 240 Hz refresh rate, and rapid 1ms response time.

The tech giant said it would launch the Odyssey G9 and G7 in South Korea in June.

Promoting the Latest in Gaming Monitor Technology

According to Samsung, players would use the latest monitor displays to practice at T1’s training facility located in Seoul. For their part, esports gamers would wear uniforms showing the Odyssey logo to promote the lineup in esports events.

The partnership would introduce a series of activities that promote both Samsung and the world-famous T1 League of Legends team. Later, T1 would host a meet-and-greet event allowing fans to interact with gamers and witness Samsung’s Odyssey gaming monitors in action. Meanwhile, Samsung would feature the T1 team using highlight videos and “The Locker Room” series on T1’s YouTube channel.

Additionally, T1’s soon-to-open Seoul headquarters would feature Samsung’s Odyssey G9 and G7 in its ‘Samsung Player Lounge.’

Joe Marsh, CEO of T1, said that they are thrilled with collaborating with Samsung in promoting and equipping players with the latest gaming monitor technology. He added that with the right technology and equipment, players could perform at the highest level.
