Samsung Electronics revealed on Thursday its new 5G versions of its Galaxy series smartphones as it aims to improve handset sales amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The South Korean smartphone maker introduced the new Galaxy A71 5G and the Galaxy A51 5G smartphones. The lineup addition supports fifth-generation mobile network technology along with the latest industry-leading features.

However, Samsung did not release prices and launch dates for both smartphones.

The tech giant revealed the LTE version of the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy A51 in Indonesia last January and in Vietnam the previous year.

The smartphone’s 5G connectivity offers hyper-fast upload and download speeds and provides an opportunity for incredible mobile experiences with low-latency. Users could live stream and share content in 4K, and play their favorite games with the AI-powered Game Booster.

Industry leading Features

Both devices feature a stunning infinity-O display and a long-lasting 4,500 mAh battery with fast-charging capability. The A71 5G offers a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, while the A51 5G comes with a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display.

The Galaxy A71 5G and A51 5G also comes with a powerful quad-rear-camera setup and intelligent photography features. The A71 5G sports a 64-megapixel primary camera while the A51 5G has a 48-megapixel main camera. Both handsets also provide a 12-megapixel Ultra-wide camera, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel depth camera to capture details.

With 128-gigabyte of internal storage, 6-gigabyte/8-gigabyte RAM, and with a MicroSD support for up to 1-terabyte, users could capture and save photos and videos without the worry of running out of storage space.

The devices use Samsung’s defense-grade security, Samsung Knox, to ensure secure and safe connected experience. They also come with Samsung’s services, such as Bixby, Samsung Pay, and Samsung Health.

Samsung hopes the latest 5G-powered smartphones could increase the company’s sales despite the COVID-19 outbreak around the world.

The company reported its first quarter operating profit at 6.4 trillion won ($5.3 million), up 2.73 percent a year ago.

According to Strategy Analytics, a market researcher, Samsung’s shipments of 6.7 million 5G smartphones internationally composed a 35.8 percent share in the global smartphone market last year. China’s Huawei had a 36.9 percent market share, shipping 6.9 million 5G smartphones in the same period.
