Genesis, Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury brand, unveiled the GV80, its first SUV, to answer the cries of its fans and rectify the lack in the company’s lineup.
Genesis shared the first glimpse of its new flagship SUV just a few hours before the strike of the new year. The unveiling of the new SUV would help Genesis gain traction in the global market.
The new player in the SUV market shouts luxury showcasing a coupe-like roofline and a three-row seater interior that focuses on a super clean minimalist design. The vehicle’s cockpit contains high-mounted control surfaces highlighted by silver dials.
Quad lamps surround the GV80’s exterior brandishing crest-shaped grilles filled with diamond patterns. The flanks of the SUV exemplify its dynamism and volume with its two sleek lines. The front also boasts a massive, bold grille.
Overall, the exterior looks quite attractive while not burdened with by overwrought design, looking more like the original GV80 SUV Concept that Genesis showcased at the New York Auto Show in 2017.
The luxury SUV has a brand-new rear-wheel drive (RDW) architecture that gives GV80 the power to take on competitors, which costs far greater. The vehicle also possesses several new driver-assist technologies, such as AI-based smart cruise control that analyzes the driver’s driving pattern and mimicking it.
Other features include the Hyundai Drive-Assist II package, infotainment systems, and an original Active Road Noise Control.
However, Genesis has not yet revealed any of GV80’s technical specifications.
William Lee said that Genesis has already established itself over the last four years as a well-respected luxury brand producing superior vehicle quality and a world-class lineup. He added that with the launch of GV80, the luxury brand would raise expectations for excellence in the SUV market. Lee is the Executive Vice President and Global Head of the Genesis Brand.
The luxury brand will launch GV80 to the Korean market by the end of January and will debut globally early this summer.
