LG Electronics is going to introduce ‘CLOi SuitBot’ that supports waist muscles in industrial, commercial, and logistics spaces.
LG Electronics made an announcement on the 27th that it will introduce this product to the public at CES 2019 which will be held in Las Vegas on the 8th of January 2019. This is the second CLOi suitBot that LG Electronics introduced in August, following a robot that supports lower body muscles.
The product detects when a user bends over a certain angle, and the robot enters the ready state, assisting the robot with the force applied to the user’s waist as the user unfolds. Repeated tasks can reduce the burden on the user’s waist. In addition, this product significantly improves the inconvenience of wearing and removing wear, which was a weakness of conventional wearable robots.
Wearable robots can prevent injuries from workers who lift and drop heavy objects. The demand is increasing rapidly at various industrial sites. Global market research firm BIS Research predicts that the global wearable robot market will grow from 100 billion won in 2016 to 5 trillion won in 2026. LG Electronics is accelerating its robot business by introducing concepts of products that can be used in variety of fields from home, commerce, industry, and medical. LG Electronics is planning to continue to expand its business portfolio and lead robot solutions field.
The CLOiBot, which LG Electronics introduced so far, has two types of ‘CLOi SuitBot’ including this new product, ‘CLOi GuideBot’ that is used at Incheon International Airport. Â There are nine kinds, including two.
