Continental Korea, in association with Born2Global, hosted the “Continental X Born2Global Startup Open Innovation” event at the Pangyo Startup Campus on August 25. The initiative aimed to identify burgeoning startups and foster mutual growth.
Born2Global is an organization under the Ministry of Science and ICT, committed to aiding tech startups in their global ventures.
The Open Innovation event serves as a part of Continental’s broader global innovation program, which enables startups to expand internationally by facilitating networking and partnerships. Established in 2017, Co-Pace, Continental’s global startup entity, has been shaping the future of mobility by adopting breakthrough technologies and business models in collaboration with startups.
The event kicked off with an inaugural address by Martin Kueppers, CEO of Continental Korea, followed by a keynote speech from Kim Jong-gab, the Center manager of Born2Global. The program also featured startup pitching presentations, an award ceremony, and a networking segment. Industry experts, along with officials from Continental Co-Pace and the Asia Innovation division, were among the attendees. They gained insights into the startups’ technological advances and future aspirations.
In a session devoted to investor pitching, the Continental Born2Global Center selected five exceptional startups through the open innovation initiative. These include NOTA, a startup focused on lightweighting technology for AI models; WEMEET MOBILITY, which offers a real-time, location-based transportation management system; AnyRactive, a provider of mobility interaction solutions; Gaudio Lab, an audio technology developer; and BeetSensing, a pioneer in advanced imaging radar solutions. The selected startups will receive support for investment attraction, Proof of Concept development, and grants.
An auxiliary live demo session showcased startups demonstrating their technologies. A total of ten startups participated in the pitching session, including Argos Vision, HEAZ, LetinAR, Monnit Korea, and MORAI, each contributing to sectors like 3D vision, hydrogen generation, optical lens technology, digital-twin platforms, and autonomous vehicle safety.
Martin Kueppers stated, “Continental stands as a premier mobility technology company, keen on nurturing startups with cutting-edge solutions. We extend our gratitude to the Born2Global Center and its associates for crafting a valuable platform for sharing insights into future mobility trends.”
Continental and Co-Pace continue to explore and support potential startups worldwide, leveraging their vast experience and technological prowess. They aim to collaborate with ‘Deep Tech’ startups that can contribute to Continental’s evolving business landscape.
