Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation (President Kim Won-kyung, hereinafter referred to as “GCCEI”) held the “2023 VIP Homecoming Festa” at Pangyo Startup Zone on December 14.

Pangyo Startup Zone was a unique space established by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to nurture companies that are intensively developing new technologies for future industries. It is now jointly operated by the Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development and GCCEI.

This year, GCCEI provided various programs to support the growth of 120 startup companies: IR event (“Startup 815”), Global Star Venture event (matching session between global VCs and startup companies, funding for CES Innovation Award and Edison Award winners), Open Collaboration Program (collaboration between startups, collaboration between startups and large corporations), In-Depth Networking Program (networking between startups and experts), and support for public relations and marketing services.

During the “VIP Homecoming Festa” event, which marked its third anniversary this year, representatives from various startup business ecosystems, such as beneficiary startups from GCCEI, related public organizations, and VC firms, attended to discuss the year’s business achievements and encourage each other.

The event consisted of various sessions: a seminar (Part 1: Professor Han Jun-ki’s book seminar, Part 2: Presentation on ‘Trend Korea 2024’), a presentation of results from past IR events (award ceremony for excellent companies, presentation of investment results), Demo Day (program for startups utilizing new technology), Startup 815 IR session, and networking session.

A total of six startup companies received awards at the Startup 815 IR session. Two companies received the Minister of SMEs and Startups Award: Incurix (developing new cancer treatment targeting tumors) and ANRP Science (specialized immune/tumor screening platform). Four companies that received the “Gyeonggi Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration Award”: WATT (industrial AR smart glass solution), Shellpia (development of snow removal agent using shells), InBic (real-time video conversion solution using AI), Aiviworks (AI-based golf swing analysis solution).

An official from GCCEI said, “GCCEI held a meaningful event where officials from startup companies, business incubators, business experts, and investors gathered to talk about their achievements during the year.” He continued, “GCCEI plans to continue supporting startups that will lead the industry of the future in the coming year.
