South Korea’s three major telecom companies are set to showcase their latest AI technologies at MWC 2025, one of the world’s largest mobile technology trade fairs, taking place in Barcelona from March 3. The event, recognized alongside CES and IFA as a top global tech exhibition, will highlight advancements in AI-driven telecommunications. Korean firms aim to demonstrate their leadership in the field.

Alongside major telecom carriers, domestic AI startups, including AI chipmaker Rebellion, will also present their innovations, particularly in AI semiconductors that compete with NVIDIA. SK Telecom has announced plans to unveil AI solutions focused on industrial safety and data protection, featuring autonomous robots for construction sites, financial security tools, and music separation technology to support K-content exports.

At MWC 2025, SK Telecom will present its AI-powered data center solutions in a spacious 990-square-meter booth at Fira Barcelona Gran Via. The exhibit will feature technologies for energy management, security, GPU optimization, and real-time monitoring of data centers. Additionally, its chipmaking subsidiary, SK hynix, will showcase its latest AI chips and solid-state drives designed for data center applications.

KT will present AI-powered business solutions at its “K-Street” pavilion, using its recent strategic partnership with Microsoft. Divided into seven sections, the exhibit will feature real-time translation, security advancements, and AI-driven office solutions.

SK Telecom will also bring seven startups from its AI alliance, K-AI Alliance, to MWC 2025. These companies—Moloco, Nota, Rebellion, Lablup, Tuat Corp., XL8, and Twelve Labs—will showcase their AI innovations at SK Telecom’s booth and the 4YFN startup zone. Nota, which specializes in AI optimization, is working with SK Telecom to develop energy-saving AI technology. Rebellion, following its recent merger with Sapeon Korea, is aiming to expand its AI semiconductor business globally. Meanwhile, Twelve Labs focuses on video understanding AI models, while Moloco, Lablup, Tuat Corp., and XL8 will present their advancements in AI-driven solutions.

Among its AI innovations, SK Telecom will showcase “VLAM” (Visual Localization and Mapping), an autonomous robot technology for construction sites, hospitals, and offices. The robots use real-time camera footage to navigate and transport materials efficiently. Additionally, the company will present “FAME” (Fraud Detection AI for MNO & Enterprise). This AI-powered security solution detects fraud in real-time using telecom data, blocking suspicious transactions based on call history.

KT will also introduce its security innovations, including EL SAR, a 5G-based precise positioning system, along with its advanced scam and spam-blocking technologies. Meanwhile, LG Uplus will make its debut at MWC, unveiling its generative AI model, ixi-Gen, and personal AI assistant, ixi-O.

SK Telecom CEO Yoo Young-sang emphasized the importance of MWC 2025 as a global platform for Korean AI startups, stating the company’s plans to support the K-AI Alliance in driving AI innovation worldwide. KT and LG Uplus also plan to highlight their collaborations with AI startups, reinforcing Korea’s position in the global AI industry. Through these advancements, SK Telecom aims to accelerate digital transformation and enhance the global competitiveness of Korean AI technology.
