Samsung SDS Partners with Korean Air Force for Digital Transformation of Military Logistics

On October 23, Samsung SDS signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) at the Gyeryongdae Integrated Military Base to modernize ROKAF’s military resource management. The collaboration aims to advance the Air Force’s logistics capabilities by implementing digital transformation across its resource management systems.

Under the agreement, Samsung SDS and ROKAF will focus on digitalizing resource management, forecasting and analyzing resource demands, and innovating supply chain management. This partnership will optimize ROKAF’s operations by enhancing logistics efficiency and supporting better decision-making.

Samsung SDS aims to support ROKAF’s digital transformation by incorporating advanced technologies such as cloud computing, generative AI, and big data analytics into the military’s resource management system. This integration is expected to enhance forecasting and analysis of logistics demand, improving resource allocation and overall operational efficiency.

The partnership also includes sharing expertise in logistics operations and supply chain management (SCM). Samsung SDS and ROKAF will engage in ongoing discussions to address technological advancements and explore synergies between military and civilian logistics systems, with a focus on optimizing current systems and identifying new opportunities for innovation.

Through this collaboration, Samsung SDS not only strengthens its solutions within the defense sector but also aims to boost its competitive edge in resource management technology. By implementing its IT solutions in defense, the company expects to enhance its product offerings while contributing to military readiness and efficiency.

Seon-gyu Jung, Deputy Chief of Staff in the directorate of Logistics for ROKAF, expressed optimism about the partnership. He noted that the MOU will drive innovation in the Air Force’s logistics through advanced technologies. He highlighted the agreement as a foundational step towards a modernized and more resilient resource management system for ROKAF.

Jeong-heon Lee, Executive Vice President and Leader of the Strategic Marketing Office at Samsung SDS emphasized the company’s plans to drive digital transformation across public and defense sectors. By integrating cloud and generative AI, Samsung SDS aims to support ROKAF in creating a modern, future-oriented logistics system that aligns with advancing military needs.

ROKAF’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Jeong Sun-kyu, expressed confidence in the partnership, noting that this agreement establishes a cooperative framework that will serve as a foundation for the Air Force’s resource management innovation. Both parties look forward to leveraging shared expertise in logistics and supply chain management to enhance operational efficiency and resilience in the military’s logistical infrastructure.
