Samsung Electronics has introduced the Galaxy Buds 3 FE, a new addition to its wireless earbud lineup that brings premium features at a more affordable price point. As part of Samsung’s “Fan Edition” series, the earbuds aim to make the company’s audio innovations more accessible while maintaining key functions from the flagship Galaxy Buds 3. The device will first roll out in the United States and Europe on September 5, with availability in South Korea and other major markets to follow.

The Galaxy Buds 3 FE feature Samsung’s signature Blade design and pack essential upgrades such as Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), improved call clarity, and extended battery life. They also integrate Galaxy AI capabilities, giving users a smarter and more seamless audio experience. By combining core features of its premium models with a lower price, Samsung is positioning the Buds 3 FE as a competitive choice for consumers who want advanced performance without the flagship cost.

The Galaxy Buds 3 FE bring several improvements over the previous Fan Edition model, most notably a larger speaker that delivers fuller sound with stronger bass and clearer treble. Samsung highlighted that this change was made to enhance the everyday listening experience, whether it’s music, podcasts, or streaming content. The earbuds also feature Active Noise Cancelling (ANC), allowing users to enjoy immersive sound even in noisy environments, such as subways or busy streets.

Call quality has also received a noticeable upgrade. The microphone placement has been fine-tuned to better capture voices, with the mics now facing toward the user’s mouth for clearer communication. This adjustment, combined with Samsung’s Crystal Clear Call technology powered by machine learning, ensures that voices remain distinct and easy to hear during conversations, even in crowded or windy settings.

On the usability front, Samsung has introduced intuitive gesture controls with the Buds 3 FE. Users can simply pinch the stem-like “Blade” to select functions or swipe for quick volume adjustments. Pairing and switching between devices have also been simplified. A button on the case facilitates pairing, while the Auto Switch feature automatically detects activity and seamlessly moves the earbuds between Galaxy devices, whether the user is answering a call or continuing a playlist.

AI integration is another key highlight. The earbuds support voice-based controls and can work with Samsung’s Galaxy AI features. For instance, users can activate tasks hands-free by simply speaking, making it possible to check schedules, reply to emails, or switch tracks without touching a screen. The Galaxy AI Interpreter app adds another layer of functionality, enabling real-time language translation — useful for travel, lectures, or conversations with people who speak different languages.

Battery life is another area where the Buds 3 FE stand out. They provide up to 6 hours of playback with ANC enabled and an extended 8.5 hours without ANC. When compared with the pricier Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which last 7 hours without ANC, the Buds 3 FE actually offer longer playback time in some scenarios. This efficiency, paired with their lighter weight — about 5 grams less than the Pro version — makes them comfortable for long listening sessions without compromising on portability.

From a design perspective, the Buds 3 FE adopt Samsung’s recognizable Blade design with a matte, dual-tone finish and subtle translucent details. While the look draws some comparisons to Apple’s AirPods, Samsung has kept the design minimal yet stylish. However, one noticeable difference compared to the Pro model is the absence of LED indicators on the stems, which some users may find less convenient.

Priced at around $150 in the U.S., the Galaxy Buds 3 FE offer a lower price point than the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, while still packing many premium features. Samsung has not yet confirmed the pricing for South Korea, noting that it is still under review. For context, the Galaxy Buds 3 launched in Korea in 2024 for 219,000 won (around $157). By offering strong sound quality, improved usability, AI-driven features, and longer battery life at a lower price, Samsung is positioning the Buds 3 FE as a compelling choice for consumers seeking value without sacrificing performance.
