Samsung Introduces Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5: New Foldable Lineup Debuts in 50 Countries

Samsung Electronics has officially introduced its latest Galaxy foldable lineup, comprising the Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 models, in 50 countries. The new devices have debuted in various countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Singapore, and China. Samsung’s rollout strategy is set to be completed within the upcoming month. The launch aims to achieve a global sales target of at least 100 million units.

The devices, belonging to the company’s fifth generation of foldable technology, come equipped with a novel Flex Hinge feature. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 pre-orders have already surpassed the sales numbers of their predecessors, the Z Flip 4 and Fold 4, across key markets, including Europe, Central and North America, and Southeast Asia.

TM Roh, the President and Head of the Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the company’s aim to present the latest and most innovative options in each category, catering to diverse lifestyles and offering unique and engaging experiences.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 smartphones have achieved an outstanding 1.02 million pre-orders within just a week, exceeding the 970,000 units set by Samsung’s previous foldable models.

This exceptional figure also approached the first-week pre-orders of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S22 series, which reached 1.09 million units.

Among these, Flip 5 constituted around 70 percent of the pre-orders. This model received significant design upgrades, including an expanded cover display that enables users to type messages and watch videos without unfolding the device.

Both the Flip 5 and Fold 5 experienced performance enhancements through the incorporation of the upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, tailored for the Galaxy series.

The summer edition of the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023 showcased the latest foldable smartphone series, marking the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer’s debut in the city for this event. The focus was on the compact design, a wide array of customizable features, and significant enhancements in overall functionalities. Particularly noteworthy was the introduction of the innovative “Flex Hinge,” a water drop-style hinge design integrated into the display.

Alongside the release of the new foldable phones, Samsung is launching its latest smartwatch offerings, including the standard Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic, as well as a new lineup of Galaxy tablets comprising the standard Galaxy Tab S9, S9+, and S9 Ultra.
