Samsung Electronics, the Korean technology powerhouse, is set to introduce “Samsung Food,” a platform designed to curate tailored dietary plans for individuals. This new platform seeks to accelerate the advancement of its food tech business by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities.
Announced Thursday, Samsung Electronics revealed its forthcoming launch of a novel food platform application that offers personalized recipe recommendations and customized diet plans.Â
The AI-driven service is scheduled to debut at this year’s IFA event, set to take place in Berlin early next month. From August 31, Samsung Food will be accessible in 104 countries, supporting eight languages.
“Samsung Food will act as a mobile nutritionist and provide a highly personalized dining experience,” stated Park Chan-woo, Executive Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ home appliance division, during a press briefing on Thursday.
This application allows users to explore international recipes, save them for future reference, and devise personalized diet plans. Collaborating with Whisk, a British food tech startup acquired by Samsung in 2019, the company has prepared a substantial library of over 160,000 recipes.Â
Like the Family Hub’s Smart Recipe feature, Samsung Food is compatible with various Samsung kitchen appliances, including refrigerators. This integration enables users to control their devices and manage ingredients seamlessly via the application.Â
The application can be downloaded to smartphones and serves as an encompassing solution for numerous dietary aspects, including recipe searches, meal planning, ingredient management, cooking, and content sharing.Â
Additionally, its AI-powered capabilities enable personalized services, offering a more convenient and efficient cooking experience while connecting with Samsung’s kitchen appliance ecosystem.
Samsung Food seamlessly integrates with Samsung Electronics‘ BESPOKE line of home appliances, optimizing culinary experiences through a synchronized ecosystem.Â
The suggested recipes provided by Samsung Food are directly transmitted to BESPOKE ovens, streamlining the cooking process by eliminating the need for users to set cooking temperatures and durations individually.Â
This synchronization will extend beyond ovens to encompass a variety of kitchen appliances, such as BESPOKE inductions and microwaves, with integration plans slated for later this year. Moreover, the platform’s reach will expand to include the BESPOKE Family Hub Refrigerator, offering users enhanced convenience and culinary capabilities.
“Any home appliance that can be connected to the SmartThings app can be integrated (with Samsung Food),” Park said. “It can be connected to various devices in the world, not just Samsung’s devices.”
