Samsung adds a new model to its Galaxy Smartwatch 4 series: The Golf Edition

Samsung has released its Galaxy watch 4 Golf Edition, a smartwatch first launched in South Korea. As the name suggests, the smartwatch targets golfers and golf enthusiasts. It happens to be the one of the first wearable watch on the WearOS Platform by Samsung, and it aims to help golfers enhance their skills in the game.

The smartwatch comes with a pre-loaded Smart Caddie app that helps golfers show and evaluate their performance metrics. Since it measures the shot distance, height and other game metrics, golf players can assess their play and improve their performance accordingly.

Golfers can access insights into their golf courses as the smartwatch has detailed data of around 40000 renowned golf courses worldwide.  Along with distance measurement, the Caddie app displays elevation difference information, height difference with detailed data. At present, the latter two features are available only on South Korean golf courses.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, Golf Edition, offers two models that come with an AMOLED display. The press release revealed the two Silver and Black models that come in two different sizes. While the black one costs $255, whereas users can buy the silver one for $280 in South Korea. The South Korean tech giant is yet to announce the availability details of the wearable internationally.

The other features in the Golf Edition are similar to Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and Galaxy Watch, which were launched last month. The watch has Galaxy’s latest One UI Watch custom skin.

The Golf Edition has BioActive sensors that help users with modern integrated health management features. Once connected through Bluetooth, users can monitor their heart rate and track (SpO2) while also understanding sleep patterns.

“With the ‘Galaxy Watch 4 Golf Edition’, which provides various convenient functions, consumers who enjoy golf will be able to enjoy a more enjoyable round of golf. We hope to enjoy the best golf life together,” a Samsung official stated while speaking to the media.

Tech experts suggest Samsung, quite evidently, has not revamped the old models for its new Gold Edition device. Although most features in the smartwatch are similar to the Galaxy Smartwatch 4 series, its Smart Caddie app may attract golfers worldwide, experts add.
