Trimble and KT Corporation have formed a strategic alliance to roll out high-accuracy positioning services throughout South Korea. The collaboration merges KT’s expansive telecom infrastructure with Trimble’s RTX Fast network to offer bundled solutions that include real-time centimeter-level positioning, correction services, and seamless connectivity.

The joint offering is targeted at automotive manufacturers and IoT companies, supporting advanced applications such as advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, smart city development, robotics, and software-defined vehicles. With this collaboration, Trimble and KT seek to accelerate the adoption of precision technologies across Korea’s connected mobility and automation sectors.

The partnership with KT is Trimble’s strategic entry into South Korea’s high-precision positioning market, further extending its global RTX Fast network beyond North America and Europe.

By bundling KT’s extensive wired and wireless network coverage with Trimble’s RTX Fast correction services, the offering provides a complete package for automotive OEMs and IoT companies. This combined solution addresses two critical needs—connectivity and precise location, making it easier for companies to test, validate, and deploy advanced applications such as ADAS and V2X systems in South Korea.

The timing is favorable, as South Korea continues investing heavily in autonomous driving and smart city initiatives. Trimble’s ASIL-certified positioning solutions are specifically designed for these complex environments, helping accelerate local development cycles and reduce technical integration challenges. Manufacturers can now move more efficiently from prototype testing to full production using one unified system.

Now that RTX Fast is available nationwide in South Korea—including urban centers, remote regions, mountainous zones, and islands—automotive and technology companies can rely on a stable, uniform platform for their operations. In addition to supporting connected vehicles, the service will enable a wide range of applications such as software-defined vehicles, field robotics, and smart city infrastructure, helping Trimble expand its footprint in the Korean market.

KT officials emphasized the practical advantages of this integration, highlighting the ease with which companies can deploy and validate their technologies locally. The partnership is expected to appeal not only to automakers and IoT providers but also to emerging users like drone operators and utility companies, with initial deployments planned later this year.

The collaboration brings together the core strengths of both companies: Trimble contributes its expertise in high-precision positioning and data analytics, while KT offers robust nationwide connectivity. KT’s ability to provide reliable network access across Korea’s varied terrain—including urban centers, rural regions, and remote islands—makes it an ideal partner for delivering dependable positioning services for critical applications.

Trimble, known for bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds, supports industries such as construction, transportation, and geospatial technology through continuous innovation. KT, with nearly two decades of experience in connected car initiatives, complements this by offering the telecom backbone needed to support real-time services. Together, the two firms aim to accelerate the development of advanced mobility and smart infrastructure solutions across South Korea.
