LG Energy Solution, an industry-leading South Korean battery solutions developer, announced that it would participate in the InterBattery 2021. Since its launch in 2013, InterBattery became a world-renowned battery technology exhibit, introducing state-of-the-art battery industry-related products and technologies.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy would host the three-day event in collaboration with the Korea Battery Industry Association. LG Energy Solution would showcase its new electric vehicle (EV) battery technologies and comprehensive product portfolio during the country’s largest battery trade show. Additionally, more than 230 domestic and foreign companies would join the battery fair.
Aside from highlighting its latest developments, LG Energy Solution would outline its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives. This move would also strengthen the company’s global identity as an outstanding energy company dedicated to establishing future-oriented social values.
Unveiling the Latest Innovations
“This exhibition is composed of a booth with contents covering the major technologies and diverse product portfolios of LG Energy Solution, a global leader in the battery industry,” said an LG Energy Solution official.
Also, upon visiting the site, guests could see the company’s current and next-generation battery products and technologies with the potential to lead the future. As a global battery leader, the company formed numerous business display zones, setting the stage to introduce innovative battery tech.
Various Exhibit Zones
In the ESG Zone, LG Energy Solution would demonstrate its ESG initiative pursuits through the keyword CHARGE. CHARGE stands for Climate Action & Circular Economy, Human Value Management, Advanced EH&S, Responsible & Impactful Business, Good Governance, and ESG Disclosure & Communication.
Furthermore, LG Energy Solution is the world’s first battery manufacturer to participate in the EV100 and RE100 initiatives simultaneously. Thanks to its participation in these programs, the company could promote carbon emission-reducing technologies and eco-friendly energy use.
In the Reuse ESS Zone, the EV battery manufacturer would showcase its circular battery ecosystem. This segment would also explain how LG Energy Solution’s system withdraws, reuses, and recycles used batteries.
Meanwhile, in the Next-Generation Zone, the company would display future EV battery products. Some groundbreaking solutions include all-solid-state batteries with enhanced safety functions and lightweight lithium-sulfur packs with better energy density.
Lastly, in the Core Technology Zone, LG Energy Solution would present its advanced battery materials in detail. In particular, the company would introduce the NCMA, the industry’s first-ever aluminum quaternary battery. LG Energy Solution would also showcase SiO (silicon anode materials) and SRS (safety-reinforced separator).
Other Participating South Korean Companies
Besides LG Energy Solution, Samsung SDI Co. and SK Innovation Co. would present their latest battery tech at the InterBattery. Samsung SDI would highlight its high-performing 90% nickel EV batteries, while SK Innovation would display various EV models equipped with lithium-ion batteries.
During this year’s first four months, these three South Korean EV battery manufacturers took a 32% global market share. Separately, LG Energy Solution and SK Innovation resolved their EV battery dispute, vowing to collaborate in improving global supply chains.
