LG Display, a world-leading display technology innovator, announced that it had received the prestigious Display of the Year award at the Display Week 2021. The event’s host, the Society for Information Display (SID), awarded LG Display and the other honorees in an all-online experience. SID mainly focuses on electric display and visual solution advancements, providing a showcasing platform for related technology.

Moreover, Display Week highlights companies that integrate the ever-developing display product ecosystem changes and represent various technological advancements. Besides promoting promising electronic display technologies, Display Week offers career connections, learning seminars, sourcing, and other business growth opportunities.

Display of The Year

LG Display won the Display of the Year award for its 65-inch Rollable OLED TV. Notably, the Display of the Year award is SID’s highest honor. The organization exclusively grants the award to products in the display industry with the most outstanding technological advancements and features. Furthermore, LG Display’s new accolade demonstrates its OLED technology’s commercial importance, significant social impacts, and technological innovation.

Aside from expanding TV capabilities, LG Display’s state-of-the-art technology transforms the way consumers utilize their space. In particular, LG Display’s award-winning product offers users optimized viewing experiences in three modes:

  1. The OLED TV’s ‘full view’ presents the entire 65-inch screen.
  2. The ‘line view’ shows only the screen’s one-third for supporting various functions, including music streaming and clock displays.
  3. The ‘zero view’ completely conceals the screen from view while still being ready for use as a speaker.

LG Display’s ultra-thin OLED panels also enable image quality stability even when the screen rolls up and down. The company’s 65-inch Rollable OLED TV specially features a self-emitting, dimming control-equipped pixel technology that delivers exceptional picture quality. Compared to LCD technology, LG Display’s OLED tech requires no backlight units, increasing its easy applicability to numerous industries. In addition to embodying industry innovation, LG Display received the award by exemplifying display technologies’ importance in consumers’ everyday lives.

“LG Display is fully committed to its invaluable research and development that brings life to the most innovative and differentiated OLED technologies on the market,” said Yoon Soo-Young, LG Display’s Chief Technology Officer. Yoon also stated that LG Display expanded and created value for the OLED sector, delivering endless benefits from self-emitting displays. LG Display, one of the world’s largest display panel manufacturers, aims to bring the self-emitting displays’ utility to more mainstream markets and customers.
