Samsung Electronics has formed a strategic alliance with KT Studio Genie, the content arm of KT Corp., to boost its streaming platform Samsung TV Plus. As part of the deal, the service will feature a wider range of Genie TV Originals — spanning dramas, movies, and exclusive series — giving audiences in Korea and abroad more viewing options.
Samsung TV Plus — Samsung’s free, ad-supported streaming platform — requires no subscription and is available across Samsung Smart TVs, Galaxy smartphones, Smart Monitors, and even Family Hub refrigerators. The service already offers viewers access to over 3,500 live channels and a library of 66,000 on-demand titles worldwide. With the addition of KT Studio Genie’s sought-after dramas, the platform is further strengthening its appeal to an expanding global audience.
Among the first wave of titles are Lies Hidden in My Garden, a suspense-driven drama about two women whose lives spiral due to unexpected secrets; New Recruit, a lighthearted yet emotional military comedy; and Dear Hyeri, a romantic series exploring the struggles of a news announcer living with dissociative identity disorder. These additions are designed to showcase the diversity of Korean storytelling to audiences worldwide.
In addition to this global rollout, New Recruit and Love Is for Suckers, a workplace romantic comedy, will receive exclusive exposure on Samsung TV Plus as FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) offerings for three months. This limited-time arrangement highlights Samsung’s effort to experiment with fresh formats while giving international viewers early access to trending K-dramas.
Viewers in Korea will also benefit from dedicated 24/7 channels featuring KT Studio Genie content, allowing audiences to tune in at any time without searching or tracking episodes. Episodes will air continuously in order, creating a flexible experience for fans who want to catch up after work, binge on weekends, or simply revisit favorite moments from beloved series. This nonstop model is designed to fit into the everyday routines of modern viewers.
To keep programming fresh, Samsung TV Plus also plans to spotlight a rotating selection of acclaimed Korean dramas every month. For example, the platform recently promoted Moon in the Day, a popular webtoon-inspired series, giving fans more opportunities to immerse themselves in iconic stories. This approach ensures that audiences have consistent access to both classics and trending titles across different genres.
KT Studio Genie now joins a growing roster of content partners on Samsung TV Plus, which already includes major names such as CJ ENM and NEW ID. Together, these partnerships enrich the platform’s K-content portfolio with a mix of drama, film, variety shows, music, and live events. By broadening its content alliances, Samsung aims to position TV Plus as a leading global hub for Korean culture and entertainment.
“Our partnership with KT Studio Genie reflects Samsung TV Plus’s ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional content and new viewing formats to global audiences,” said Yong Su Kim, Executive Vice President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business. He added that the expansion demonstrates the company’s commitment to offering high-quality content experiences to global users. With operations spanning 30 countries, Samsung TV Plus is steadily evolving into one of the most accessible platforms for Korean entertainment on the international stage.
