KT, a leading telecommunications company in Korea, has unveiled a collaboration with HFR, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer, to explore the advantages of private 5G deployment and advancing technology to extend the scope of their specialized 5G network business.

The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony held at the KT Songpa Building in Songpa-gu.

“It is important to vitalize the ecosystem for the 5G specialized network in which the initial market is forming, and we will develop a competitive 5G specialized network service,” said Min Hye-byeong, head of KT Enterprise Service DX Headquarters.

The joint effort between KT and HFR is to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of implementing private 5G networks while fostering technological advancements to expand the utilization of this cutting-edge technology in various industries.

KT and HFR will collaborate on creating a program to deploy private 5G networks in small and medium-sized enterprises, local governments, and public enterprises.

The companies seek to demonstrate the effectiveness of digital transformation (DX) solutions, offering customers a reliable and competitive path to introduce 5G specialized networks.

This cooperation is expected to streamline the implementation of digital transformation initiatives for customers who have already deployed or are contemplating the deployment of 5G specialized networks.

The joint efforts of KT and HFR are geared towards providing rapid and effective DX support, empowering businesses and organizations to employ the full potential of private 5G networks for greater efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness.

“We will contribute to the development of industry and society by providing small and medium-sized enterprises with affordable solutions tailored to their needs, and public enterprises, including local governments, with Korean solutions to realize a secure and smart society,” said Jung-Kwan Chung, Head of HFR’s Private 5G Business Group.

Min Hye-byung, Head of KT Enterprise Services DX, said, “As the nascent market for 5G specialized networks, the expansion and activation of the ecosystem will directly benefit customers.” “We will continue developing competitive 5G specialized network services through cooperation.”
