KT has introduced the Microsoft Teams Phone service, a new offering that integrates its communication network with Microsoft’s business collaboration platform, Teams. This service connects KT’s calling infrastructure directly with Teams, enhancing corporate communication capabilities.
Microsoft Teams is a comprehensive collaboration tool that supports real-time messaging, voice and video calls, online meetings, and file sharing. It also works seamlessly with Microsoft 365 and a variety of partner applications, providing businesses with a versatile platform for teamwork and communication.
Last year, KT committed to a five-year strategic partnership with Microsoft valued at 2.4 trillion won, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and information technology (IT).
The launch of Microsoft Teams Phone stems from this collaboration. KT highlighted that the service enables businesses to use office phone systems without reducing the need for extensive management, building separate communication infrastructure and maintenance. This solution is particularly suited for global companies with multiple branches or organizations that require mobile use of office phone numbers.
Traditional corporate phone systems often rely on dedicated hardware like private branch exchanges (PBXs) or desk phones, which can be costly and complex to manage. Microsoft Teams Phone eliminates these requirements by integrating phone functions into the Teams app, allowing companies to streamline their communications and IT operations efficiently.
Employees using Microsoft Teams Phone can make and receive calls directly through the Teams application on PCs, tablets, and smartphones. The service also offers the convenience of assigning office numbers via the app, preventing the need to disclose personal mobile numbers, thereby enhancing privacy and professionalism.
Furthermore, the platform supports various productivity tools within Teams, including AI-powered personal assistants that help with scheduling, content creation, and meeting analysis. This integration aims to drive business innovation by combining communication and collaboration in a single, user-friendly environment.
Myung Je-hun, Executive Director and head of KT’s Enterprise Service Product Division, stated that the launch of Microsoft Teams Phone had created an environment where employees of client companies can communicate more easily and intelligently. He added that KT will continue to enhance its communication services to provide customers with innovative experiences in the future.

Microsoft Teams Phone is expected to cater to diverse companies, such as global firms with domestic and international branches, organizations with frequent field operations seeking mobile use of office numbers, and those looking to adopt both collaboration and internal phone solutions simultaneously.
