South Korean automotive manufacturer Kia Corporation showed a preview for the K8, its new premium sports sedan. The K8 sedan is Kia’s first vehicle release since its rebranding in January, representing new brand direction and goals. Following its event, Kia announced it would incorporate elegance and innovation throughout its new releases and continue upholding brand values.
“The interior of the K8 is a canvas for our ambition to define the future, nature meets modern technology, and refinement meets uncompromised comfort,” said Karim Habib, Senior Vice President of Kia’s Global Design Center. “It is a first-class travel space that fulfills the need of the driver and the passengers.” The Design Center’s Senior VP also added that Kia equipped the K8 with an innovative and dynamic interior and exterior.
Interior Vision for Modernity and Technology
Kia designed K8’s interior and its components to highlight first-class style, space utilization, and comfort, delivering quality automotive standards. To further promote Kia’s change and innovation amid the ever-evolving automobile industry, the K8 includes the newly designed Kia logo.
In selecting the stylistic wood trim design, Kia planned to heighten the vehicle’s cabin effect and add style and character. As Kia stated, the wood elements complement other interior details such as the exposed metals, combining modern and traditional styles. Kia also carried the diamond lattice design from K8’s exterior into the Napa leather seat patterns and side door panels.
Moreover, Kia included a ‘Star Cloud’ ambient lighting in K8’s dashboard details and door areas, creating interactive glittering effects. K8 also sports a redesigned 3-spoke steering wheel with the new Kia logo and multiple controls on the side spokes. In addition to the detailed wood material finish, Kia developers furnished the latest model with state-of-the-art technologies that improve connectivity.
The K8 sedan interior offers a curved panoramic display that features a 12-inch infotainment system and a 12-inch digital cluster. Aside from merging K8’s infotainment system controls and advanced connectivity technologies, the display provides a minimalist, simple, and ultra-modern design. Notably, the K8 is Kia’s first automobile to support the 14-speaker Meridian sound system, which delivers high-quality in-car surround audio. Sometime this year, Kia will provide further information regarding the K8 sedan’s market release.
