Hyundai Motor Group has been selected as the official mobility partner for a trio of major international energy summits set to be held in Busan this August. To support the events, the company will supply a fleet of 63 zero-emission vehicles—comprising hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and battery electric vehicles (EVs)
The lineup will include 34 Hyundai Nexo SUVs powered by hydrogen, 12 Genesis Electrified G80 premium sedans, 14 Kia EV9 electric SUVs, and three Hyundai Universe hydrogen buses. These eco-friendly vehicles will be tasked with transporting high-level delegates and officials throughout the events.
The APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting is scheduled to take place from August 27 to 28 at venues across Busan, including the Paradise Hotel and Nurimaru APEC House. The meeting will gather top officials from 21 member economies to address pressing energy challenges such as upgrading power grid infrastructure, enhancing energy security, ensuring a stable electricity supply, and advancing innovation in the energy sector through artificial intelligence.
Ahead of that, the 16th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) and the 10th Mission Innovation (MI) Ministerial Meetings will be held jointly from August 25 to 27 at the BEXCO convention center. These meetings will welcome representatives from around 30 countries to explore clean energy transition strategies, including the adoption of hydrogen and other next-generation fuels, AI-integrated energy systems, and emerging carbon reduction technologies.
Together, the three major summits are expected to attract energy ministers, government officials, and global stakeholders from more than 40 nations. Hyundai Motor Group aims to use this global stage to highlight the performance and reliability of its zero-emission models.
Leading the eco-friendly fleet is Hyundai’s all-new Nexo, a hydrogen fuel cell SUV capable of driving up to 720 kilometers on a single charge. Hyundai emphasized that the Nexo symbolizes the company’s leadership in hydrogen technology and its long-term vision for clean transportation. The fleet also includes premium EVs from Genesis and Kia, as well as hydrogen-powered buses to support event operations.
“Hyundai Motor Group is honored to support these major international energy forums with our hydrogen and electric vehicles,” said Kim Dong-wook, Executive Vice President and Head of Strategy Planning at Hyundai. “By showcasing our eco-friendly vehicles at a venue that discusses the future of global energy, we hope to share our vision for sustainability and innovation with the world.”
Hyundai Motor Group has consistently supported major international gatherings with its eco-friendly vehicle lineup. Past deployments include the 43rd ASEAN Summit in 2023 and the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022, where the automaker provided electric and hydrogen-powered models to transport global leaders and officials.
