HD Hyundai has collaborated with Google Cloud to propel digital innovation by implementing artificial intelligence (AI). The joint effort was announced on Tuesday this week. The partnership aims to accelerate digital transformation within various sectors of HD Hyundai’s business, including its renowned shipbuilding and top-tier construction machinery enterprises in Korea.
Generative AI is a methodology that generates novel content by utilizing pre-existing original data such as text, audio, images, and video. Commencing in January 2024, HD Hyundai will prioritize impactful initiatives. These include crafting industry-specific AI solutions tailored to the unique needs of each sector, developing AI-based platforms to enhance customers’ digital experiences, and encouraging AI professionals’ expertise.Â
Google Cloud’s contribution to this collaboration involves providing enterprise solutions, notably its Vertex AI platform, to facilitate the development of specialized AI applications for diverse industry applications.
HD Hyundai has actively introduced the technology into its shipbuilding and construction equipment businesses, sectors renowned for their global and domestic competitiveness.Â
In July, the company had an initial pilot project where HD Hyundai piloted a Generative AI service for after-sales calls within its construction equipment division. The firm aims to establish an enduring AI roadmap lining up with its broader objectives for digital transformation and business innovation.Â
HD Hyundai is tapping into various partnerships, including collaborating with Germany’s Siemens to establish a smart shipyard in October.
HD Hyundai has undertaken various initiatives to strengthen its in-house AI capabilities, including establishing an AI Center dedicated to crafting customized generative AI solutions. Additionally, the company has collaborated with industry leaders such as POSCO for smart unmanned technology and Siemens for AI applications in smart integrating AI across diverse sectors.
An HD Hyundai representative emphasized the synergistic potential of combining the company’s extensive data accumulated over the years with Google Cloud’s generative AI technology.Â
On a similar note, Philip Moyer, Google Cloud’s Vice President, is set to share insights as a speaker during the HD Hyundai keynote session at ‘CES 2024,’ the renowned global exhibition focusing on home appliances and information technology (IT). The event, held annually in Las Vegas, USA, provides a prominent platform for showcasing innovations in the tech industry.Â
