Vueron Technology has obtained an autonomous driving license from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

LiDAR autonomous driving startup Vueron Technology has obtained an autonomous driving license from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) with only one lidar sensor. It is the first case of an autonomous driving license using only one lidar in California, USA.

After obtaining an autonomous driving license, Vueron tested autonomous drive on a 616km route from Los Angeles to San Francisco via Interstate 5 and Interstate 580. It succeeded in stable autonomous driving for 6 hours at a maximum speed of 110 km/h, and the safety driver who rode in did not hold the steering wheel once while driving.

In general, various sensors such as cameras, radar, GPS, and HD maps were used at the same time for autonomous driving.

Kim Jae-gwang, CEO of Vueron, said, “Through this autonomous license acquisition, the potential of our technology has been recognized in California, where numerous autonomous driving tech companies are competing.

Vueron plans to unveil a next-generation LiDAR autonomous driving platform that can be applied immediately in the second half of this year.”
