Wadiz, a Korean platform in which startups can crowdsource funding, announced that it will hold ‘Investment Seminar 2018 for Unlisted Companies‘  (in Korean language) at the incubator Maru-180, in Seoul on the 15th from 10am to 6pm (UTC+9).

Wadiz, which has South Korea’s largest network of startups, non-commercial companies and about 900,000 investors, will be co-hosted with Fast Campus, an education company that focuses on developing marketable skills. The event is designed to provide information and networking opportunities with relevant industry experts and investors curious about unlisted companies.

“As angel investments in startups and unlisted companies are emerging as a new trend in the investment industry, private investors are increasingly enthusiastic about investments in unlisted companies. As investments in unlisted companies have high yields, it is very important to collect related information such as advice from experts and the status of attracting investment from startup companies because they are at high risk.” Wadiz Director JiHoon Kim

This Korean business world is historically organized by massive companies known as ‘Jaebeols’. Traditionally, Koreans go through great lengths to win employment within a Jaebeol. But recently the startup community as seen more activity. Sharing past experiencing of the process of getting investment and what investor relations (IR) looks like, is becoming more relevant to budding Korean business people. To help understand the overall investment ecosystem, the event will start with a lecture on the current status of venture capital (VC) and how to attract investment in Korea. Next is a presentation of strategies developed by Angel Investment Association, and also by some unlisted startup companies themselves. After the IR seminar, IR conferences from three of the pitching companies will also be held for actual startup investment. Afterwards, the event will open for networking.
