Samsung Electronics Co. announced the release of their new solid-state drive (SSD) product, the 870 EVO SSD. Samsung equipped it with enhanced performance and reliability, making it a wide-ranging Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) solution for users.

The world’s largest memory chip manufacturer said that the 870 EVO series is available in five models. The five models will include a DRAM of 4TB, 4TB, 1TB, 500GB, and 250GB. Starting with South Korea and the US, the 870 EVO SSD will be available for sale throughout 40 countries. Samsung’s latest SATA drives include suggested retail prices ranging from $50 to $530. The latest storage solutions are ideal for all kinds of customers, from IT specialists to common PC users.

Users can utilize Samsung Electronics’ latest SSD series in devices with a 2.5-inch SATA interface connector. By using their expertise in storage memory technology, Samsung delivers a 30 percent increase in the new drive’s performance. Compared to the former 860 EVO model, the 870 provides a 38 percent increase in random read speed.

“Representing the culmination of our SATA SSD line, the new 870 EVO delivers a compelling mix of performance, reliability, and compatibility for casual laptop and desktop PC users as well as Network Attached Storage (NAS) users,” said Lee Kyu-young, vice president of Memory Brand Product Biz at Samsung Electronics.

Featuring the newest V-NAND chip and controller, Samsung’s 870 EVO SSD has the capacity for maximum read and write speed. The maximum SATA sequential read and write speeds are 560 and 530 megabytes per second. The storage solution’s Intelligent TurboWrite technology supports optimum performance quality by employing a large variable SLC buffer. Due to the improvements, users will have a better experience in booting PCs, multitasking, web browsing, and other functions.

870 EVO SSD reviews

“It’s the fastest SATA SSD we’ve tested, it’s available in up to 4TB of capacity, and it’s exceedingly affordable given its speed,” reported PCWorld. “The Samsung 870 is easily the best performer in its class, and a top performer in any class across all usage scenarios.”

“As remote work arrangements continue to drive demand for better computing performance, fast-performing SSDs like the 870 EVO can improve everyday computing experience while offering better SSD reliability and compatibility,” said Director of Samsung Electronics’ Display and Brand Memory Business in Singapore.
