DoubleMe Co. announced that it would launch “TwinWorld”, an open beta service where users could directly alter and share mixed reality space in augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR).

The open beta service, “TwinWorld”, initially supports Microsoft’s HoloLens 2, through its app. The service allows users to decorate a selection of colorful mixed reality spaces in real space and share them in real-time other users. TwinWorld gives them the ability to design and alter rooms more freely with fewer limitations.

According to DoubleMe CEO Albert Kim, TwinWorld intends to deliver user-oriented services by providing an immersive and realistic personal experience, unlike existing AR and VR services. TwinWorld would offer a digital replica, Mirror World, via 3D scanning technology and space produced by DoubleMe.

DoubleMe also developed Holoport, which that enables high-quality real-time volumetric video content with only using a PC and 3D camera. The company nurtured global partnerships with major global telecom companies such as Vodafone, Telefonica, Orange, Deutsche Telekom, BT and SingTel. DoubleMe also developed systems for other mobile carriers, including LG U+, and Optus among others.

The TEAC (TIP Echosystem Accelerator Center) selected UK’s British Telecom for the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) startup program last January. Facebook and other major mobile carriers would conduct the program and would demonstrate the 5G holographic telepresence service in Europe.

Marina Traversari, TEAC Global Program Manager, stated that the diverse telecom infrastructure at this time creates innovative concepts in digital media. The real-time hologram technology from DoubleMe offers new opportunities and benefits for both users and operators.

The Ministry of Science and ICT supported the development of TwinWorld through the 2020 5G Content Flagship Project. Users could download the TwinWorld app through the HoloLens App store of Microsoft.
