South Korean education technology (edtech) startup LUXROBO announced that it would launch its artificial intelligence (AI) training kits “hello AI” and “Smart AI” penetrating the AI education market worldwide this November.
LUXROBO Inc., leading robotics edutech startup established in 2014, specializes in online and offline coding education services in South Korea. The company develops modular hardware platforms equipped with MODI modules and operating systems. MODI, an industry-recognized modular coding education kit, allows users to create and connect do-it-yourself robotics.
Entry Level Kit “hello AI”
Amid the recent growth in AI learning, LUXROBO would launch hello AI as an entry-level kit that would help third to sixth-grade elementary school students learn AI concepts quickly. The all-in-one package includes a camera, speaker, and microphone modules that would facilitate the three main functions of “recognition, learning, and judgement.”
hello AI allows students to develop their own AI MODI-bots using various facial stickers. South Korea elementary schools, which commonly use “Entry” education platforms, could integrate the programming language into their system easily. LUXROBO also aims to provide hello AI to similar platforms used globally.
Students could access the package’s basic curriculum for 12 hours or sessions. Meanwhile, teachers could purchase the expanded package to use up to 42 sessions with an additional 12 hours.
Expert Kit Add-on “Smart AI”
LUXROBO would launch the “Smart AI” kit as an add-on to its existing Expert Kit currently used by middle and high school students. The package comprises of AI modules integrating cameras, external batteries, and the use of MODI and python.
Smart AI allows students to learn various real-life AI applications helping them to become proficient in problem recognition, research, and optimization.
MODI: LUXROBO’s Modular Coding Education Kit
LUXROBO developed MODI as an industry-recognized modular coding education kit for creating and connecting do-it-yourself robotics. The hardware platform consists of 21 input, output and setup modules, each with a specific function and software coding tools.
Jointly developed with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), Seoul National University of Education (SNUE), and the Association of Teachers for Computing (ATC), LUXROBO created the MODI curriculum to comprise of 92 hours Expert kit and 20 hours for Smart AI.
MODI allows learners and users to acquire key concepts in coding and computer science in an exciting and engaging way. The modular education kit provides challenges for users to develop their critical and computational thinking skills through hands-on project-based activities.
In combination with a STEAM curriculum, 3D printing, and LEGO, MODI allows users to recognize each module’s function intuitively. Additionally, MODI’s unexposed circuit board provides the benefit of familiarity and safety, making it suitable for children.
