It is often difficult for new K-Drama fans to make a great watchlist. You will most likely ask for your friends’ opinions or look for reviews online to build your list.

To help you create your perfect selection of romantic comedies, here are five K-dramas to add to your list and why.

1. “My Love from the Star“

“My Love from the Star,” features an ensemble cast starring Kim Soo-hyun, Jun Ji-hyun, Park Hae-jin, and Yoo In-na. This romantic comedy aired on SBS from December 18, 2013, to February 27, 2014, running for 21 episodes.

The story tells the romance of an alien, who arrived on earth 400 years ago in the Joseon Dynasty, and a top actress in the modern era.

This K-drama is quite simple, with perfect acting and an excellent plot. It is hilarious with a mix of heart-fluttering romance on a mysterious and action-filled background.

2. “Legend of the Blue Sea“

The series aired on SBS starting from November 16, 2016, until January 25, 2017, and casting Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Min-ho. The K-drama is inspired by a classic Joseon legend from Korea’s tales about a fisherman capturing and releasing a mermaid.

“Legend of the Blue Sea,” tells of a love story between a businessman’s son turned into a con-man and a mermaid.

The drama caught the attention of fans with its love lines, hilarious scenes, and magical elements.

3. “I’m not a Robot”

The 32-episode series aired on MBC from December 6, 2017, to January 25, 2018. The television show starred Um Ki-joon, Chae Soo-bin, and Yoo Seung-ho.

The series tells of a man who has never loved someone because of his allergy to other people falling in love with a woman pretending to be an android.

The stars’ amazing chemistry quickly hooked the viewers to the story. It follows both characters struggling with their problems and falling for each other.

4. “Weightlifting Fairy Kim BokJoo”

This South Korean television series starred Lee Sung-kyung and Nam Joo-hyuk in the title role. The show is a coming-of-age sports drama inspired by the life of Olympic gold-medalist Jang Mi-ran. It aired on MBC from November 16, 2016, to January 11, 2017.

“Weightlifting Fairy Kim BokJoo” tells the story of a group of college athletes who are fighting for their dreams in sports, experiencing and finding love in the process, and growing every step of the way.

The series has the sweetest and hilarious campus romance among other K-Dramas. The main female character attracts fans with her amazing and bubbly personality. Her combination with the main male lead creates perfect chemistry giving birth to this must-watch show.

 5. “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho”

“My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” is a 2010 South Korean romantic comedy television series which aired from August 11 to September 30, 2010, on SBS. The 16-episode series featured Lee Seung-gi and Shin min-ah as its main lead.

It is a hilarious yet touching love story of a man that falls for a Gumiho (nine-tailed fox). The lead male character released a Gumiho who he fears would hurt him, but then both of them started to have feelings for each other. The television show captivated fans with its exciting and catchy theme.
