Korean startup P&E Studio‘s “Eggroy & Friends” garnered global attention after reaching more than a million views on its Eggroy Channel within two weeks. The studio plans on completing and releasing 130 episodes by February next year.

P&E Studio started as Egg pictures in 2004, and in 2017 built the company’s main business of exporting animations and character development with toys and theme parks.

The studio startup worked relentlessly for 13 years without outside investment to produce the 2D animation to fruition.

Eggroy’s fun and easy-to-understand storyline caught children’s attention worldwide. The episodes’ plot is of Eggroy, who lives on an island of Egg with his friends battle, the villain Khan, a cook specializing in eggs, threatening the peaceful and quiet island. The episodes follow the adventures of Eggroy, Joey, Mimi, and Cha Cha overcoming obstacles and maintaining a conflict-free island.

P&E Studio exported Eggroy to eight countries, including the United States, Czech, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan, India, and China. Also, under discussion for exportation is Macao, Brazil, and Thailand.

However, the studio overcame China’s current political climate, initially discouraging any contract signing under the studio’s present name.

Generally, companies conduct goods production after releasing an animation; however, P&E Studio already built a children’s café along with the release of the Eggroy episodes. The studio contracted Korean construction giant Daewoo E&C for the construction of the restaurant.

P&E Studio currently sells character goods, with new products available every month, via crowdfunding websites located both in and outside Korea.

Il Joung, P&E Studio’s CEO, in a statement, said, “P&E Studio is selling stuffed toys by licensing stuffed toys in Thailand. These toys are produced locally and are en route to be shipped to the global market. The goal is to enter 100 countries within the next few years. It aims to be a beloved character for the next century.”

Il Joung is a renowned content producer in Korea and formerly a member of the Presidential Economic Mission.
