The Asan Nanum Foundation said on April 15th that it has completed a successful regional briefing for the 8th Jung Ju-yung Startup Competition.

The Jung Ju-yung Startup Competition is a real-life startup support program launched to inherit the entrepreneurship of Hyundai founder Asan Jung Ju-yung. It aims to spread the startup culture across the country and discover and support startups that begin new challenges.

The regional briefing session was conducted for prospective and young entrepreneurs residing in provincial areas and conducted seven times in six regions, including two in Seoul, from March 6th to March 28th, with about 860 people attending.

Instead of just the competition, the regional briefing session itself was organized with a special lecture related to startups. A startup entrepreneur attended the event as a speaker to tell the story of his startup and to answer related questions freely. A YouTuber named Taeyong, who became famous for his “Real Valley” series, which interviewed Silicon Valley founder, was also the host.

At the first briefing session in Seoul at Maru180 run by the Asan Nanum Foundation, Kim Tae-hoon from Rainist, who runs the Bank Salad service, gave a lecture on “The Moment of Bank Salad’s Growth,” and at a briefing at Yonsei University, Welt’s director of the company’s spin-off program, Roh Hye-gang, who took advantage of Samsung Electronics’s C-Lab program gave candid advice to college students and prospective startups under the theme of “Big business first? Startup first?”

In addition, Riiid SantaTOEIC CEO Jang Young-jun, NSPACE CEO Jung Soo-hyun, LetinAR CEO Kim Jae-hyuk, Taling CEO Kim Yoon-hwan and Samjin Amook CEO Park Yong-joon participated as representative speakers in each region and shared frankly their experiences in running the startup and listened to the concerns of prospective startups.

Teams wishing to apply for the 8th Jung Ju-yung Startup Competition can apply through the official website of the Jung Ju-yung Startup Competition until April 30th. The 16 teams that entered the business stage after screening documents and interviews will be provided with office space at Maru 180 and TIPS Town, a private investment-driven technology startup support center, for nine weeks.

During the period, seed money, expert mentoring and customized education programs will be provided. 173 million won (about US$ 151,452) in prize money will also be given to teams that have won the finals.
