Sensors mounted on the monitor stand detect the user’s attitude in real time. When the neck is bent and the posture is disoriented, the monitor moves and induces the correct posture.

On the 9th (U.S. time) of the year, there were many ideas for ‘CES 2019’ that is being held in Las Vegas. Samsung Electronics displayed eight AI-based Creative-Lab tasks. A giraffe monitor that participated in this CES project is a monitor stand that corrects wrong posture when using a computer. The posture habit is corrected by moving the monitor to guide the user into the correct position, and by naturally repeating posture training. When a sensor mounted on a stand senses a user’s position in real time and takes a wrong position, it naturally induces right posture by moving the slope and distance of the monitor.

In particular, posture training is naturally repeated while working with different users considering different body types, posture habits, and use environments. Officials explain that the monitor moves slowly at a speed that users do not notice, and thus is effective in correcting the monitor without breaking the concentration.

“We also obtained clinical results that if we use the giraffe monitor stand for one month, the Forward head Posture will improve by 8 percent,”

Creative-Lab Leader Shin Yong-ram

A total of eight Creative-Lab assignments, including the giraffe monitor, were exhibited at the CES. “Among eight Creative-Lab tasks, many people were attracted to ‘Perfume Blender’, which is a customized perfume manufacturing solution, and elderly people showed great interest in ‘Snail Sound’, which is a Smartphone-based hearing aid solution for hearing impaired patients.”

On the other hand, Creative-Lab is an in-house venture program introduced by Samsung Electronics at the end of 2012 to spread its creative organizational culture. Employees are not afraid to fail and are offering the opportunity to implement their own ideas.
