Samsung Electronics Gears Up for Global Strategy Meeting to Set 2024 Goals and Tackle Market Challenges

Samsung Electronics is set to hold its annual global strategy meeting from December 17 to 19 to outline its business plans for the upcoming year, according to industry sources. The event will bring together executives from various divisions to discuss strategies and goals for 2024.

The meeting will be divided into two sessions: the Device Experience (DX) division, responsible for consumer electronics, will convene on December 17 and 18, while the Device Solutions (DS) division, which oversees the semiconductor business, will hold its session on December 19.

Samsung Electronics’ global strategy meeting is held biannually in June and December. It gathers top executives from both domestic and international offices to discuss key issues related to the business sector and region. This meeting is a crucial platform for setting the company’s business goals and sales strategies for the upcoming year. In this meeting, Samsung will focus on addressing current challenges and developing strategies to meet next year’s objectives.

The key agenda for this year’s meeting will include strategies to overcome market difficulties and plans for the promotion of flagship products, such as the upcoming Galaxy S25 smartphone. With the smartphone market facing heightened competition, the discussion is expected to center on marketing and strategies to ensure the success of this and other key devices.

Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee, head of the Device Experience (DX) division, will lead the discussions for the electronics products business, while Vice Chairman Jeon Young-hyun, who oversees the Device Solutions (DS) division, will preside over the semiconductor-focused session. These meetings are anticipated to attract around 200 executives for the DX sector and 100 for the DS division.

Samsung’s Chairman Lee Jae-yong is not expected to attend the meetings in person. However, it is reported that he will receive detailed reports on the business strategies discussed during the sessions. His absence from the meeting reflects a shift in the company’s leadership approach, with more focus placed on the operational heads leading the divisions.

The upcoming global strategy meeting for Samsung Electronics will primarily focus on sales strategies and business goals for next year’s new products, including the highly anticipated Galaxy S25 smartphone. In light of growing global management uncertainty, the meeting will also address risk management strategies to navigate challenges such as fluctuating exchange rates and changes in the global economic environment. Additionally, the company is expected to share plans regarding the global supply of key products and discuss marketing strategies to boost sales in an increasingly competitive market.

This follows a trend seen across other major corporations. Hyundai Motor Group also held a similar gathering this week, with CEOs Chang Jae-hoon and Song Ho-sung presiding over their respective company meetings. LG Group convened an executive council meeting with Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and approximately 40 top executives to discuss management initiatives for the upcoming year.
