Hyundai and Kia Motors released a 3D video showing the concept of smart self-parking cars for future implementation.
The video released (bottom) shows a driver getting out of her car while telling it via smartphone to park within a parking garage. The car proceeds to wirelessly charge over the parking space. Later, the driver calls her car back with her phone, presumably done shopping.
“We are also going to work on developing variety of technologies that apply self-driving technology so that customers can experience self-driving more conveniently and safely.” Hyundai representative
This feature is based on an IoT technology called “Continuous Connectivity” between cars, parking facilities, charging facilities and drivers. Parking facilities send information of empty parking spaces and charging spaces to vehicles which will guide cars in real time.
This tech by Hyundai and Kia Motors may see its roll out with fully self-driving cars around 2025.
